The following is an email from the Mission President about the Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission. The letter says that they are discontinuing the mission effective July 1, 2020 – which is a few weeks after Elder Sam Pastor returns home. So this notice will not affect him.
Dear Parents and Family Members of Young Elders:
This morning I notified the young elders in the Utah Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission that the Council of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has determined that the time has come to consolidate, effective July 1, 2020, the service of young elders in the Utah Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission with the live-at-home Service Mission program of the Church. Among other things, I read to them the following letter which I told them would be sent to their parents and family members today. Please read the attached letter to obtain the details of this major change in the mission.
